Community Guidelines

Samely is a community for zoning out, slacking off, and chatting with people on the same wavelength. This community is limited to users who are at least 18 years old. Please read these guidelines carefully; continuing to use the service means you agree to follow them. The three-point summary shown during onboarding corresponds to the first few rules on this page; this page is the complete version.

1. Be Kind

Respect everyone — including other users, and Samely's support, moderation, and operations staff. You may disagree, but do not personally attack others, mock their appearance or identity, or keep pushing a conversation the other person no longer wants to continue.

• Do not send unsolicited explicit content;
• Do not coerce, threaten, intimidate, or extort;
• Do not abuse, insult, or harass others (including staff);
• If someone says they don't want to keep talking, stop immediately.

2. Profile & Identity Integrity

You're free to choose how you present your avatar and bio, but you may not use this to impersonate others — including using someone else's real photos, identity, or statements, faking a celebrity's or organization's identity, or using false information to defraud or mislead others.

• You must be at least 18 years old, and must truthfully provide your birthdate, gender, and other identity information (used for age verification; unrelated to how you present your avatar or bio, and this requirement cannot be waived); misrepresenting your gender or age for any reason — including to get more attention, more matches, or other social advantages — is treated as providing false identity information;
• The information above cannot be altered at will once verified; if it is genuinely incorrect, you may contact support to request a correction;
• Profile content must be appropriate and must not contain false statements that impersonate someone's identity or mislead others; it is subject to content review.

3. Hold Your Boundaries

If you feel uncomfortable, use blocking and reporting first. You don't owe anyone an explanation to leave a conversation. We encourage calmly and clearly setting your own boundaries.

4. Prohibited Content & Conduct

• Any form of sexualized content involving minors, or attempts to interact with users under 18;
• Hate speech, incitement to violence, terrorism, or extremist content;
• Information about sexual services, drugs, weapons, or other illegal transactions;
• Scams, phishing, or directing users to unknown payment or investment schemes;
• Spam ads, mass unsolicited messaging, fake engagement, and cheating;
• Public shaming, doxxing, or disclosing others' private information.

5. No Abuse of Platform Features

Please use Samely as intended. Do not abuse features in ways that disrupt the service, harm other users' experience, or gain an unfair advantage, for example:

• Bypassing or tampering with quotas and limits on swiping, greetings, etc.;
• Holding or using multiple accounts for the purpose of evading quota limits, evading enforcement (e.g., re-registering after a ban), or deceiving other users;
• Mass or malicious account registration, manipulating follow/visitor/engagement data, or exploiting bugs or scripts for automation;
• Abusing reporting, blocking, or other safety tools to harass or retaliate against others;
• Interfering with content distribution, moderation, or other users' normal use of the service.

6. Reaching Out & Being Reached

On Samely, you'll see the other person's avatar and basic identity information first, then choose whether to say hi. Please review someone's public profile before starting a conversation.

7. Moments & Chat

Moments are meant for sharing your current status and light everyday snippets. Chat is primarily text-based; you can send photos to each other only after you follow each other. Please do not send media that is inappropriate or violates these guidelines.

8. Reporting & Enforcement

You can report from a profile page or within a chat. We combine automated review with human review to handle reports. Depending on severity, we may take action such as: removing content, restricting features, temporary suspension, or a permanent ban. Malicious false reporting may also be actioned.

If you register a new account to evade enforcement while your account is restricted or banned, and continue the same conduct, this will be treated as an aggravating factor and may result in all linked accounts being permanently banned.

9. Our Commitment

We will keep improving filtering, report response, and safety features, and provide a public way to contact our developers. If there is an immediate risk to personal safety, please also contact local emergency services.
