Delete your Samely account
This page explains how to request deletion of your Samely account and the data that goes with it. The website cannot delete an account by itself. This English version governs if the translations differ.
Steps to request deletion
- Open Samely, go to Me → Settings → Delete account, and submit the request.
- You are signed out, and a 7-day waiting period starts. Signing in again during those 7 days cancels the request.
- The account is permanently deleted only after 7 days with no sign-in.
If you cannot open the app, email support@getsamely.app from the Google or Apple address you use to sign in. Use the subject “Delete my Samely account”. We follow the same steps and the same 7-day waiting period.
To leave for now, use Sign out. Signing out does not delete the account.
Data that is deleted
When the waiting period ends and the account is permanently deleted, the following is deleted or anonymized:
- Profile: name, photo, bio, gender, and date of birth.
- Posts, photos, and videos.
- Chat history.
Other people then see the profile as “Deleted user”, without the original name or photo.
Data that is kept, and for how long
- For the 7 days after you submit the request, the account and its data stay, so you can sign in and cancel.
- After those 7 days with no sign-in, the profile, posts, and chats listed above are deleted or anonymized.
- Records required for legal, safety, dispute, or payment reasons are kept only for the shortest time that purpose needs, then deleted or anonymized. We do not keep a separate long-term archive beyond that.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel auto-renewal on Google Play or the App Store. Cancel the subscription in the store’s payments and subscriptions settings first.
