Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Samely collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. By using this service, you confirm that you have read and understood this policy.
1. Who We Are
Samely is operated by CloudBeat Inc. (a company incorporated under the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, "we" or "us"), a lightweight social app for overseas Chinese users that helps you find someone on the same wavelength to chat with during idle moments, downtime, or sleepless nights.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information only to the extent necessary to provide the service, primarily including:
- Account information: identifiers obtained when you sign in with Apple / Google, your email (shown read-only, not used as a login credential), and the avatar you authorize.
- Profile information: birthdate (used for age verification), nickname, gender, optional bio, occupation/relationship status, avatar and moment photos, etc.
- Usage information: status selections, swipe and greeting records, follow relationships, visitor records, device type, app version, crash logs, etc.
- Network-inferred information: your IP address at sign-up/login, used to infer your approximate city and time zone to provide localized time display and related features; manual city selection is not offered.
- Communication content: one-on-one chat text and (once you follow each other) images, moments you post, and other UGC such as your profile tagline.
- Transaction information: if you subscribe to VIP, we receive subscription status and receipt-verification data returned by the store; payment itself is handled by Apple / Google.
We do not offer phone number or password sign-in. Except where required for a security investigation, age or identity re-verification, payment dispute handling, or a legal requirement, we will not request sensitive documents such as a government ID; any documents collected under such exceptions are used solely for verification and will be deleted or anonymized as soon as verification is complete.
3. How We Use Information
- Creating and maintaining your account, completing age verification and onboarding;
- Providing core features such as status browsing, swiping, chat, moments, following, and visitors;
- Performing content moderation, anti-fraud, security, and risk control;
- Sending push notifications you've consented to (you can turn these off in settings);
- Handling membership subscription status and customer support requests;
- Improving the product experience using aggregated, de-identified data.
4. Storage Location & Third Parties
User data is primarily stored in data centers in Singapore.
We may use the following categories of processors (subject to the actual production configuration):
- Apple / Google: login authentication and in-app subscriptions;
- RevenueCat: subscription status and renewal events (payments still go through Apple / Google);
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (and the APNs pipeline on iOS): offline push delivery;
- Content moderation and infrastructure providers: for text/image safety filtering and hosting.
We require our processors to handle data only within the agreed scope and to take reasonable security measures.
As a company incorporated in the Province of Ontario, Canada, we also follow applicable Canadian federal and provincial privacy laws (including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, or PIPEDA) when processing personal information; specific compliance arrangements will be further confirmed by legal counsel before launch.
5. Messages, Moments & Moderation
To meet app store safety requirements for UGC social products, chats, moments, bios, and profile taglines may be subject to automated and human review when sent or posted. Content that violates our rules may be blocked or removed, and in serious cases accounts may be restricted or banned.
6. Visitor Records & Incognito Browsing
When you view someone else's profile, the system may generate a visitor record that the other person can see; the exact presentation of visitor records is determined by the actual features available in the app and may vary by membership tier. If you turn on "Incognito Browsing" (a membership perk), viewing someone else's profile will not generate a visitor record.
7. Local Storage
The app may store login state, preferences, and cache data on your device to enable offline use or faster loading. Uninstalling the app typically clears the local cache; cloud account data must be deleted via the account deletion process.
8. Your Choices & Rights
- Manage push notifications, sound alerts, timeline visibility, incognito browsing (VIP), and more, in settings;
- Edit the editable fields in your profile; gender and age are locked once verified — if this information is genuinely incorrect, you can contact support to request a correction;
- Block or report other users;
- Sign out or request account deletion (deletion is irreversible; we will delete or anonymize associated personal data within a reasonable period, except for data we are required to retain for legal, compliance, security, or dispute-handling purposes, which will be retained only for the minimum period necessary).
If the law of your region grants you rights such as access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or data portability, you may submit a request using the contact details at the end of this policy, and we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Minors
Samely is intended only for users who are at least 18 years old. The onboarding flow collects your birthdate and verifies your age; users under 18 cannot create an account that can sign in. If we discover, or have reasonable grounds to believe, that an account holder is under 18, we will suspend or delete that account and related information, and may retain records necessary to meet compliance requirements.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via an in-app notice or other reasonable means. See the date at the top of this page for the last update.
